✒️The “Flag of the Joseon” is a stylized reinterpretation of traditional Korean flag symbolism inspired by the historic banners and philosophical iconography of the Joseon dynasty. The design features a deep crimson-red field bordered in gold, with a central circular emblem derived from the taegeuk symbol commonly associated with Korean national identity and East Asian cosmology. Surrounding the center are eight trigrams inspired by the Bagua, representing harmony, balance, heaven, earth, water, fire, and natural order. The use of gold against red gives the flag a regal and imperial appearance, evoking royal Korean court aesthetics and ceremonial military standards of pre-modern Korea.
Historically, the Joseon dynasty ruled the Korean Peninsula from 1392 to 1897 and is regarded as one of Korea’s most influential historical states. While this specific flag is a modern artistic interpretation rather than an official historical banner, its visual elements draw heavily from Korean Confucian symbolism and the later development of the Korean Taegukgi. The combination of geometric trigrams, balanced circular forms, and royal colors reflects themes of authority, stability, and philosophical dualism deeply rooted in Korean history. The flag is popular among enthusiasts of alternate history, historical vexillology, and East Asian heraldic design.
